Private Weight Loss Injections in Manchester and Cheshire

“I’ve tried every diet, but my weight keeps creeping back on. My joints ache, my sleep is poor, and deep down I just know my weight is part of the picture.”

“I’ve seen the online jab clinics, but I’d rather a real doctor checked me over before I start.”

If you’re carrying weight that’s affecting your energy, your joints, your sleep or your long-term health, you deserve a thorough medical assessment before starting treatment. At Summerhill Health, we offer private weight loss injections as part of a fully medically-led service: in-person consultations, pre-treatment blood tests, prescriptions, in-clinic teaching, and ongoing review.

Our service is led by Dr Natalie Summerhill (MBBS, RCGP 2015, DRCOG, DFSRH)**, who founded Summerhill Health in 2021 to provide thorough, diagnostic-led primary care. Dr Summerhill graduated from London’s Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’s in 2007 and qualified with the Royal College of General Practitioners in 2015. As a specialist in midlife and hormone health, she ensures our weight management programmes are grounded in patient safety and clinical excellence.

Under her guidance, we offer UK-approved weight loss injections, specifically Mounjaro (tirzepatide), a dual-acting GIP and GLP-1 receptor agonist, and Wegovy (semaglutide), a GLP-1 receptor agonist. Every prescription is backed by an in-person assessment and comprehensive baseline blood monitoring.

We believe weight loss treatment works best when it’s grounded in your full medical picture, with someone who knows you. You’ll usually have your pre-treatment blood test first, followed by a 60-minute consultation with Dr Summerhill to review your results, take a full medical history, assess whether treatment is suitable, and, where appropriate, prescribe medication and show you how to administer your injection.

We’re easy to reach from our clinic in Hale, with patients travelling in from Altrincham, Wilmslow, Knutsford, Manchester city centre, and across Cheshire.

What are weight loss injections?

Weight loss injections (sometimes called weight loss jabs) are prescription-only medicines that work on gut hormone pathways to reduce appetite, slow gastric emptying, and improve how the body handles blood sugar. They belong to a class of medicines called incretin mimetics, which includes both GLP-1 receptor agonists and dual GIP/GLP-1 receptor agonists. The two options currently licensed in the UK for weight management are Mounjaro (tirzepatide) and Wegovy (semaglutide).

They’re a medical treatment for people whose weight is affecting their long-term health, prescribed and monitored by a doctor as part of a wider plan. At Summerhill Health, that wider plan is built into every appointment with us.

Book your initial blood test and consultation

For weight loss injections, we ask new patients to start with the pre-treatment blood panel, followed by an initial consultation. This lets Dr Summerhill review your results, assess your suitability, and, where appropriate, prescribe medication and show you how to administer your injection during the same appointment.

Call 0161 552 2382 or book online to arrange your initial consultation. Find out more about our full range of blood tests here.

Book a consultation.

New patients seeking longer-term health advice must book an initial consultation. This isn’t required for single-issue GP appointments, blood tests or contraception services.

Treatment options we offer

The two weight loss injections currently licensed in the UK for weight management are Mounjaro and Wegovy. Both are once-weekly injections, with the dose built up gradually over the first few months.

Mounjaro (tirzepatide):

Works on two gut hormone receptors at the same time (GIP and GLP-1), and carries UK approval for weight management.

Wegovy (semaglutide)

Works on the GLP-1 pathway, and is also UK-approved specifically for weight management.

A note on Ozempic

Ozempic (semaglutide) uses the same active ingredient as Wegovy but is strictly licensed in the UK for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. We don’t prescribe Ozempic as a primary weight loss therapy. If you have type 2 diabetes alongside concerns about your weight, Dr Summerhill will review your full metabolic and diabetic health at your consultation, and discuss the safest licensed pathway for you.

Who can administer your injection?

Most patients self-administer their weekly injection at home, and we’ll teach you how at your treatment start consultation. The pens are designed to be straightforward to use, and many people find it becomes a simple part of their weekly routine.

If you’d rather not inject yourself (because of needle anxiety, dexterity issues, or simply a preference for clinical oversight), we can administer your injection in clinic. This is charged at £135 per month for up to four injections.

His manner gave me a great deal of confidence and put my wife’s mind at ease.

From the beginning of my first appointment, Dr Kahn took the time to make me feel that my care was his top priority. I was pretty poorly when I met Dr Kahn but his manner gave me a great deal of confidence and it put my wife’s mind at ease.

What To Expect

At Summerhill Health, we provide thorough, in-person weight loss treatment in a calm, unhurried environment. From your first consultation through to long-term review, you’ll be cared for by Dr Natalie Summerhill.

  1. 1

    Your Initial Consultation

We usually ask new patients to have the £95 pre-treatment blood panel first, before their initial consultation. This gives Dr Summerhill the clinical information she needs to make a safe, informed decision about treatment.

Your 60-minute initial consultation is where Dr Summerhill reviews your results, takes a full medical history, reviews any current medications and existing conditions, talks through your weight history and what’s been tried before, and assesses whether weight loss injections are clinically appropriate for you.

We’ll also discuss your goals and which medication is likely to suit you best. Lifestyle and nutrition guidance is built into every consultation at no extra cost. We treat weight loss medication as part of a wider plan, and not a substitute for one. If treatment is suitable, medication is generally prescribed during this appointment, and Dr Summerhill can show you how to administer your injection there and then.

  2. 2

    Pre-Treatment Blood Tests

Weight loss injections like Mounjaro and Wegovy can be clinically effective, which is exactly why we want to make sure they’re safe for you before you start. Our £95 pre-treatment panel includes:

    • Thyroid function tests (TFTs): baseline thyroid health, which is particularly important given the medication warnings around certain thyroid conditions.
    • HbA1c: average blood sugar over the last two to three months, to screen for undiagnosed diabetes or pre-diabetes.
    • Lipid profile: HDL, LDL, and triglycerides, to give us a clear baseline before significant weight loss occurs.
  3. 3

    Starting Treatment

Once your results are back, your initial consultation is usually where treatment starts, if Dr Summerhill confirms it is appropriate for you. During the appointment, we can:

    • Go through your results in plain language
    • Issue your prescription
    • Show you how to use the injection pen at home
    • Support you with your first injection, so you leave with treatment underway and your questions answered

If you’d prefer not to inject yourself, we can administer subsequent doses in clinic too (see the FAQ below).

  4. 4

    Follow-Up and Dose Tritration

GLP-1 medications work best when the dose is built up gradually. After your initial consultation, Dr Summerhill would not usually charge for a follow-up until around three months later, unless there is a clinical reason to review sooner.

Your three-month review is ideally in person at the clinic, although a video GP appointment may be suitable in some cases. Review bloods are usually arranged every 3–6 months.

  5. 5

    Long-Term Review and Maintenance

Weight loss treatment is most effective when paired with lasting changes to how you eat, move, sleep, and manage stress. We support you through this with ongoing reviews, practical lifestyle guidance, and clear conversations about when (and how) to taper or stop treatment.

You can also add an annual health screening alongside your reviews if you’d like a fuller picture of your overall health.

I can’t recommend Dr Summerhill highly enough.

I can’t recommend Dr Summerhill highly enough. From the moment you walk in, she makes you feel completely at ease. She takes the time to listen carefully, never rushes appointments, and explains everything in a clear and reassuring way.

What really stands out is her genuine care and compassion — you feel like you’re being treated as a person, not just a patient. Her attention to detail and professionalism are exceptional, and I always leave feeling confident and well looked after.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Am I eligible for weight loss injections?

Eligibility depends on your BMI, ethnicity, overall health, existing medical conditions, and the medications you’re already taking. In general, weight loss injections may be considered if you have:

    • A BMI over 30
    • A BMI of 27 kg/m² or more if you are of Asian descent
    • A BMI of 27 kg/m² or more, of any ethnicity, where there is at least one weight-related co-morbidity such as diabetes or pre-diabetes, raised cholesterol, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, or sleep apnoea

At your initial consultation, Dr Summerhill will take a full history and let you know whether weight loss injections are clinically appropriate for you, or whether a different approach would suit you better.

  • How do Mounjaro and Wegovy compare?

Both are once-weekly injections that work on gut hormone pathways to reduce appetite, slow gastric emptying, and improve how the body handles blood sugar. Both carry UK approval for weight management.

    • Mounjaro (tirzepatide) stimulates two gut hormone receptors (GIP and GLP-1).
    • Wegovy (semaglutide) stimulates the GLP-1 receptor alone.

The right choice depends on your medical history, your tolerance to side effects, your goals, and current supply. Ozempic (semaglutide) uses the same active ingredient as Wegovy but is licensed in the UK for type 2 diabetes only, not for weight loss, so we don’t prescribe it as a weight loss therapy.

  • Why do I need blood tests before starting?

GLP-1 medications are effective, but they’re not a one-size-fits-all treatment. Pre-treatment bloods help us:

    • Screen for undiagnosed diabetes, thyroid issues, or kidney or liver problems
    • Check that your pancreatic and lipid markers are within a safe range to start
    • Give us a baseline so we can spot any changes during treatment

It’s the same principle as our approach to TRT and hormone therapy: medication works best when we know what we’re treating, and what we need to keep an eye on.

  • Can I use blood tests I’ve had done elsewhere?

Often, yes. We’ll need recent results covering thyroid function tests (TFTs), HbA1c, and lipid profile. If your existing tests don’t cover the full panel, we’ll let you know what’s missing before your treatment start consultation, so you can either top up or book a new test with us.

  • What side effects should I expect?

Most patients tolerate GLP-1 medications well, especially when the dose is built up gradually. The most common side effects in the early weeks include:

    • Nausea, particularly after dose increases
    • Mild gastrointestinal symptoms such as reflux, constipation, or loose stools
    • Reduced appetite and earlier fullness (which is, of course, part of how the medication works)
    • Fatigue or headaches in some patients

More serious but rarer risks include pancreatitis, gallbladder problems, and, with semaglutide and tirzepatide, specific warnings around certain thyroid conditions. We’ll go through your personal risk profile at your initial consultation, and our monitoring schedule is designed to catch any concerns early.

Weight loss injections are not appropriate during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and we’ll discuss other situations where treatment may not be suitable.

  • How quickly will I lose weight?

Most patients notice changes in appetite within the first one to two weeks. Visible weight loss tends to follow over the first one to three months, and continues as the dose is built up. Average weight loss with Mounjaro and Wegovy in clinical trials sits in the 15 to 20 per cent range over 12 to 18 months, although individual results vary depending on dose, lifestyle, and how the medication is combined with sustainable changes to eating and activity.

We’ll review your progress at every follow-up and adjust the plan as needed.

  • Will I regain weight if I stop the medication?

The evidence is clear that weight regain is common after stopping GLP-1 medications, especially if the underlying habits haven’t changed. That’s why we treat the injection as one part of a wider plan and not the whole plan. At every consultation, we work with you on the nutrition, movement, sleep, and stress factors that support long-term results, and we’ll talk through how to taper or stop treatment safely when the time is right.

  • What if I can’t inject myself?

We completely understand. Some patients find self-injection straightforward, others find it harder for reasons including needle anxiety, dexterity, or simply a preference for clinical oversight. We can administer your weekly injection in the clinic, with brief, focused appointments designed to fit around your week.

  • How much do weight loss injections cost in Manchester?

Our pricing is built around three components: your blood tests (pre-treatment screening and ongoing monitoring), your consultations (initial assessment and three-month reviews), and your medication. Each is priced separately, so you only ever pay for what you need. Pre-treatment bloods are £95, your initial consultation is £285 (60 minutes), and 30-minute follow-up reviews are £175 each. Medication is charged based on what’s prescribed. If you would prefer in-clinic injections, this is charged at £135 per month for up to four injections.

Online clinics often offer flat-fee monthly subscriptions, which can look cheaper at first glance. The trade-offs are the depth of assessment (often a short online questionnaire, with little or no blood testing) and the breadth of monitoring. Updated GMC guidance on prescribing weight loss medication asks prescribers to carry out robust identity, physical and psychological checks that an online form alone can’t replicate, which is exactly what an in-person consultation is designed to do. We price each element separately, so you’re paying for what’s clinically appropriate for you, in person, with continuity of care.

  • Where is your clinic, and how do I get there?

Our clinic is based in Hale, in the heart of South Manchester. We’re easy to reach from Altrincham, Bowdon, Hale Barns, Wilmslow, Knutsford, Alderley Edge, Stockport, Cheadle, Sale, and Manchester city centre. There’s parking nearby, and the clinic is a short walk from Hale train station.
