What is the Ziwig Endotest®?
The Ziwig Endotest® is a pioneering diagnostic tool that uses a simple saliva sample to detect all types of endometriosis. Developed by a French team of experts, it uses cutting-edge technology that combines Next Generation Sequencing of 109 different microRNAs with Artificial Intelligence to provide a clear positive or negative result. This non-invasive method represents a significant development, offering a diagnostic performance that exceeds many conventional tests.
Who is the Ziwig Endotest® for?
The test is indicated for women between the ages of 18 and 43 who are clinically suspected of having endometriosis. It is particularly useful if you present with one or more associated symptoms, such as:
- Chronic pelvic pain
- Severe period pain (Dysmenorrhoea)
- Pain during or after sexual intercourse (Dyspareunia)
- Infertility
- Pain during urination or bowel movements
- Digestive issues like alternating diarrhoea/constipation
A consultation with Dr Summerhill is necessary to discuss your symptoms and determine if the test is appropriate for you, as it is a prescription-only device.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Ziwig Endotest® is a new, non-invasive diagnostic tool that uses a saliva sample to reliably detect all forms of endometriosis. It is indicated for women aged 18 to 43. The test works by analysing a complex signature of 109 different microRNAs to provide a clear diagnosis.
The test is designed for women between 18 and 43 years old who are experiencing symptoms associated with endometriosis. A consultation with Dr. Summerhill is required to discuss your medical history and confirm your suitability, as the test is a prescription-only device.
The Ziwig Endotest® has been clinically validated specifically for women aged 18-43. The microRNA signatures that the test analyses have been studied and proven accurate within this demographic, ensuring reliable results with over 97% sensitivity and 93% specificity.
Yes, a consultation with Dr Summerhill is required to confirm your suitability. The test has not been validated for patients who:
- Are pregnant
- Have a history of Cancer and/or Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)
- Have an acute infectious disease or a condition transmissible via saliva
- Have a gynaecological infection that needs surgical management
Dr Summerhill will discuss your medical history with you to ensure the test is appropriate.
The test has demonstrated excellent accuracy in clinical trials. It has a sensitivity of over 97% and a specificity of over 93%.
No. The Ziwig Endotest® is a diagnostic tool and is not intended to replace pelvic medical imaging. After a positive diagnosis, imaging remains essential for mapping and classifying the location and extent of any lesions.
Unlike traditional diagnosis requiring invasive laparoscopy, the Ziwig Endotest® uses a simple saliva sample analysing 109 microRNAs with artificial intelligence. It offers over 97% accuracy and avoids the typical 8-10 year diagnostic journey that many women experience.
Summerhill Health offers the Ziwig Endotest® at our private clinic in Hale, near Manchester, serving patients across Greater Manchester and Cheshire. Book online or call 0161 552 2382 for flexible appointment times that suit your schedule.
Yes, the Ziwig Endotest® at Summerhill Health provides much faster diagnosis than traditional methods. While a typical endometriosis diagnosis can take 8-10 years, our saliva-based test delivers clear positive or negative results within weeks of your appointment.
Once your sample is sent to the laboratory, the analysis and processing take time. We will provide an estimated timeframe during your appointment and will contact you as soon as your results are available to book a follow-up consultation.
A positive result allows for targeted care that can slow or stop the worsening of pain and other symptoms. While there is currently no complete cure for endometriosis, an early diagnosis means an optimised treatment strategy can be implemented to improve your quality of life.
A negative result indicates endometriosis is not detected in your saliva sample. Dr Summerhill will discuss your symptoms during your follow-up consultation and may recommend alternative investigations or treatments to address your concerns and improve your quality of life.
Yes, the Ziwig Endotest® detects all forms of endometriosis including superficial, deep infiltrating, and ovarian endometriosis. It analyses 109 different microRNAs using cutting-edge artificial intelligence to provide comprehensive detection across all disease types.
The Ziwig Endotest® is a private diagnostic service not currently available through the NHS. However, at £1,200 including consultation, laboratory analysis, and follow-up, it offers a cost-effective alternative to years of NHS appointments and potential invasive procedures.
Summerhill Health is among the leading providers of the innovative Ziwig Endotest® in the UK. Dr Natalie Summerhill combines clinical expertise with a caring approach, offering this cutting-edge diagnostic tool in a welcoming, patient-focused environment near Manchester.
