What is the Ziwig Endotest®?
The Ziwig Endotest® is a pioneering diagnostic tool that uses a simple saliva sample to detect all types of endometriosis. Developed by a French team of experts, it uses cutting-edge technology that combines Next Generation Sequencing of 109 different microRNAs with Artificial Intelligence to provide a clear positive or negative result. This non-invasive method represents a significant development, offering a diagnostic performance that exceeds many conventional tests.
Who is the Ziwig Endotest® for?
The test is indicated for women between the ages of 18 and 43 who are clinically suspected of having endometriosis. It is particularly useful if you present with one or more associated symptoms, such as:
- Chronic pelvic pain
- Severe period pain (Dysmenorrhoea)
- Pain during or after sexual intercourse (Dyspareunia)
- Infertility
- Pain during urination or bowel movements
- Digestive issues like alternating diarrhoea/constipation

During Your Appointment
- A private consultation with Dr. Summerhill to discuss the procedure and confirm if the Ziwig Endotest® is suitable for you.
- A clear explanation of each step of the saliva collection process.
- For an accurate sample, you must not eat, drink, chew gum, wear lipstick, brush your teeth, or smoke for at least 30 minutes prior to collection.
- Gentle and non-invasive sample collection, supervised by Dr. Summerhill.
- We ensure there is plenty of time to ask questions without any rush or pressure.
After Your Appointment
- A clear explanation of when to expect your test results, which will be either Positive or Negative for endometriosis.
- We will provide you with a summary of your results.
- A follow-up consultation is required to discuss your results and what they mean for you.
- Coordination of next steps, which may include referrals for medical imaging to map any lesions if your result is positive.
- Discussion of a personalised care plan to manage your health moving forward.

The test has demonstrated excellent accuracy in clinical trials. It has a sensitivity of over 97% and a specificity of over 93%.
Once your sample is sent to the laboratory, the analysis and processing take time. We will provide an estimated timeframe during your appointment and will contact you as soon as your results are available to book a follow-up consultation.
No. The Ziwig Endotest® is a diagnostic tool and is not intended to replace pelvic medical imaging. After a positive diagnosis, imaging remains essential for mapping and classifying the location and extent of any lesions.
A positive result allows for targeted care that can slow or stop the worsening of pain and other symptoms. While there is currently no complete cure for endometriosis, an early diagnosis means an optimised treatment strategy can be implemented to improve your quality of life.
